Mashin Eiyūden Wataru is a 45-episode Japanese anime series created by Hajime Yatate, which aired between 1988 and 1989. This shōnen series blends adventure, comedy, and mecha in a fantasy world. The story follows Wataru Ikusabe, a 9-year-old schoolboy transported to the magical world of Soukaizan. There, he is designated as the savior tasked with restoring the seven colors of the rainbow, a symbol of balance, by freeing each level of the sacred mountain from the yoke of the demonic Doakudar. Accompanied by Ryujinmaru, a robot he created himself, and companions such as Shibaraku and Himiko, Wataru faces various enemies in a journey of discovery rich in humor and epic battles.
